Stay Cool During the Heat: Essential Tips for ECSG Calvià 2025 Participants
As temperatures soar across Mallorca this week, we want to make sure all athletes, companions, and staff stay safe, hydrated, and cool during the ECSG Calvià 2025. High temperatures can impact both performance and well-being. Please take the following recommendations seriously and help spread the word among your teammates!
Hydration Is Key
-
Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Aim for small sips throughout the day.
-
Avoid alcohol and sugary drinks during the hottest hours—they can dehydrate you.
-
Electrolyte drinks or water can help replace minerals lost through sweat.
Dress Light & Smart
-
Wear lightweight, breathable clothing made of moisture-wicking materials.
-
Light-colored outfits reflect heat better than dark ones.
-
Don’t forget your hat or cap and UV-protective sunglasses.
Apply Sunscreen
-
Use a high-SPF sunscreen (30 or higher), and reapply every 2 hours or after sweating.
-
Protect all exposed areas—especially your neck, ears, and nose.
Avoid Direct Sun When possible
-
Use shaded areas near your venue or return to your hotel if you have long breaks.
Cool Down Proactively
-
Wet a towel and place it on your neck or wrists for an instant cooling effect.
-
Carry a refillable water spray bottle (you have one in the welcome pack we provided for you) or use cooling gel packs.
Listen to Your Body
-
Watch out for symptoms of heat exhaustion: dizziness, headaches, nausea, cramps, or excessive fatigue.
-
If you experience any of these, stop immediately, rest in a cool place, hydrate, and alert a medical volunteer if necessary.
Support Each Other
-
Keep an eye on your teammates and other participants.
-
If you see someone struggling with the heat, offer help or alert event staff immediately.
💡 Reminder: Your health and safety are our top priorities—let’s compete smart, stay cool, and enjoy the Games together! 💙
Stay safe and hydrated,
The ECSG Calvià 2025 Team
